Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Sunday that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up an Amsterdam-Detroit airline flight Christmas Day demonstrated that “the system worked.”Asked by CNN’s Candy Crowley on “State of the Union” how that could be possible when the young Nigerian who has been charged with trying to set off the bomb was able to smuggle explosive liquid onto the jet, Napolitano responded: “We’re asking the same questions.”
Napolitano added that there was “no suggestion that [the suspect] was improperly screened.”
You know what’s funny about that? She believes it.
This is a woman who sent the country into terror hysterics over right wing militia groups and domestic terrorists (a favorite target of left wingers) who now, for whatever ungodly reason, thinks that a man with explosive material and a detonator getting on a plane is not a failure; in fact, that’s evidence that the system worked.
And despite the fact that this man got on a plane with explosive material and a detonator, was on a terrorist watch list (which, for whatever reason, didn’t put him on a no-fly list), and got to the point where he was trying to mix the chemicals necessary to take down the plane, our Homeland Security Secretary says that nothing indicates he was improperly screened.
This is the woman in charge of Homeland Security.
Sleep well.
