Judge Dredd Becomes Reailty

If you’re one of the six people like me who saw the movie Judge Dredd, then you’ll get this one relatively quickly.

The gun in the picture will not activate unless the watch, also in the picture, is on the wrist of the person holding it. The gun has a proximity sensor that turns the safety on or off depending on its proximity to the watch.

Pretty neat, right?

One of the biggest dangers police officers face in a struggle with a suspected criminal is the danger that their weapon will be turned on them during the struggle. At least with this technology, there’s a chance that the gun might not work at all if it’s in someone else’s hands.

@Nathan Rodriguez – Well, it’s something. It may not be the ideal, but it’s an improvement over what they have now anyway!

Nice feature for a handgun, but should be more biometric oriented, and with some digital device registering the weapon usage.

You have to start somewhere. They'll get there, but you can't go right to level 10, ya know?
