A New York City college has launched a pilot program that allows undocumented Mexican restaurant workers to take classes.New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn offers 15-week hospitality management training classes combined with English and math. Students will end up with a City Tech certificate that’s also recognized in Mexico.
City University of New York Vice Chancellor Jay Hershenson said the program aims to head off an “educational catastrophe” among Mexican immigrants.
CUNY said the program is funded by a $100,000 grant from the Mexican government.
