A night out in the South Street Seaport turned bloody this morning when three people were shot after leaving swanky Stella lounge, with residents of the upscale neighborhood now feeling on edge.
Just before 3 a.m., two young women and a 23-year-old man left the Front Street bar when they got into a fight with two men on Beekman Street, according to police. A crowd formed, and a one of the men pulled out a .357-caliber handgun and shot all three, then fled the scene.
“There was a group of people screaming,” said Henrique Gendre, 39, a Beekman Street resident, whose 10-day-old baby was woken by the sounds of two shots. “I was surprised. This is such a nice neighborhood.”
If you’ve seen the “crowd” that frequents the Seaport these days, this doesn’t surprise you one bit, and by crowd I’ll explain it as certain finger shapes, colors worn, and lots of… Well… Let’s just say many of the teeth at the Seaport have been replaced with precious metals.
