New York Receives $0.79 for Every Dollar Sent to DC

Wow… Just… Wow…

Net tax map

Ponder that. New York is going through a budget shortfall right now, and while I do think the state needs to cut spending before they do anything else, it should strike any rational person as insane that any state sends $1 to Washington DC and gets back $0.79. Why not just keep the money altogether?

This is the problem with a leviathan federal government. Everything goes to Washington to be redistributed as they see fit. Why not keep New York money in New York and let New York make decisions on it and manage it? That was the intention in forming this country as a federal republic in the first place.

Incidentally, there are also a good number of states on that list that are sending $1.00 and getting back more with New Mexico being the worst, sending $1.00 and getting $2.03 back. Not a bad ROI for a state that essentially contributes nothing but ox skulls, cactii and sand, huh?
