Absolut Bullshit

April 6th, 2008 by Vinny

I should primarily point out that I don’t really drink Absolut vodka anyway. I’m more of a Grey Goose kind of guy, but I’ve been known to partake in the occasional Stolichnaya also.

Recently, in Mexico, Absolut started its “clever” new ad campaign.

absolutcodka.jpg

Now, I won’t go into the hyper-offended mode, even though I am more than slightly annoyed that Absolut has chosen to take half my country away to appear to nationalist Mexicans, but I will say this much… I wasn’t a big Absolut fan before, and I certainly won’t be bothering with it now. In fact, the only time you’ll catch a bottle of that crap in my shopping cart is if I’m wasting it in something like Penne a la Vodka. Aside from that, I’ll leave that jet-fuel tasting garbage to the peasants who would probably be amused by an ad like this.

Have a Donut: Protect the Border

June 2nd, 2006 by Vinny

Apparently, Dunkin Donuts (great Donuts, awful coffee) is tired of being the butt of illegal alien jokes, and have started to (note STARTED TO) verify the legal residence of their employees.

Dunkin’ Donuts is requiring all of its franchisees to participate in the Basic Pilot Program, which allows employers to verify a worker’s status using online databases from the Social Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

The company chose to participate in the program partly because it sometimes receives complaints from customers who assume its workers — especially those whose first language isn’t English — are in the United States illegally.

Some advocates for immigrants dislike the program because they say the databases contain errors, which could lead to people being unfairly fired.

“There’s just so many ways for immigration information to be misclassified, so until there are the right safeguards for a person to review the data that’s in there, we’re very concerned,” said Ali Noorani, executive director of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition. “The bigger point here is that we can pour all kinds of money and effort into enforcement like this, but unless we fix the immigration system we’re never really going to fix the problem.”

Actually, the “errors” are easy enough to fix. You either have a green card or you don’t. You either have a VISA or you don’t. If you don’t? Bye bye! No confusion or complications necessary. Will Amir Al Saddir appear 50 times in the list? Maybe. Might you have an Amir Al Saddir on your employment rolls? Maybe. Is he the same one? Maybe not. All he has to do is show you his VISA.

Problem solved. Of course, the MO of those against immigration reform seems to be to just say that every single solution is unworkable, impractical, and impossible. This is a very simple fix. Will it solve the problem? By itself, obviously not. But if a bunch of employers who historically love hiring illegals would follow suit, it may put a dent. If all these folks who (cough) do the jobs Americans won’t do can’t find jobs, maybe they won’t come here in the droves they are.

I know. This isn’t going to accomplish that right away, but you have to start somewhere, and perpetual kvetching about what won’t work isn’t solving the problem.

How Low Will They Go?

May 12th, 2006 by Vinny

A writer in Florida took Lou Dobbs to task for calling a field correspondent by his name. I kid you not. As usual, Ian at Expose the Left is right on top of things and has the video of Dobbs’ smashing of the idiot.

Click here to witness the carnage.

If we’ve gotten to a point where someone’s name is a racial slur, we’ve surely become a country I don’t want to live in anymore.

Openly Protecting Illegals

May 9th, 2006 by Vinny

Our government needs an overhaul and soon.

Not only are they doing basically nothing but throw their hands in the air and say illegals are here and oh well, but now they’re providing the locations of the minutemen on the border to the Mexican government. I’m sure you’ve heard of the Mexican government. They hand out a brochure on how to beat our border patrol.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants’ rights are being observed.

“It’s not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be,” Mario Martinez said Monday.

“This … simply makes two basic statements — that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person.”

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

“Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time,” said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. “It’s unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

“They just basically endangered the lives of American people.”

There’s no doubt that to a certain degree, Chris Simcox is being somewhat melodramatic, it is pretty obvious where the interests of our government lie, and it isn’t in even trying to control the borders. Instead of watching the border, the border patrol is keeping its eyes on American citizens who are protecting the border that they refuse to protect.

This is a frightening abuse of authority, a frightening undermining of our laws, and a frighteningly disgusting display of pandering to lawbreakers.

And it’s done by the people charged with protecting our borders.

Simply Ridiculous

April 30th, 2006 by Vinny

Our country is populated by morons. After the head, moron in chief, President Bush, told the country that deporting 11 million illegals was impractical (something he wouldn’t even attempt; funny how that works), we find that millions of illegals are planning on leaving work tomorrow to demand that they be rewarded for their crime by being made citizens.

Isn’t that special?

I can put up with that because in the end, this is a one-off thing in response to the fact that people are waking up to the fact that there are lotsa people who don’t belong in this country.

What I can’t tolerate, however is this:

Tomorrow, busboy Juan Mendoza will not be there for his busy lunch shift at the midtown bistro where he works. And his wife won’t clean the offices of her Manhattan clients.

Instead, the couple from Mexico will march from Chinatown to Union Square, where they plan to take part in an immigrant-rights rally and demand legalization for themselves and the 11 million other undocumented immigrants in this country.

“To take the day off, I will lose $70, $80,” said Mendoza, 37, who got approval for the day off from his boss. “But we are going to be gaining a lot more if we all come out and protest.”

They got permission from their boss? That means that their boss is knowingly employing illegal immigrants. There’s more in this story.

Many employers, large and small, have made contingency plans. Meat-producing giant Tyson Foods announced it will shut down nine factories nationwide tomorrow because workers plan to attend demonstrations.

Locally, small outfits like El Gran Pan de Queso, a Colombian restaurant in Corona, Queens, will close for the day, said Nyddia Lugo-Spahr, spokeswoman for the New York Statewide Coalition of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Why would they need to close? Are they hiring illegal aliens also?

The government is missing a major opportunity, here. All we hear about is how these folks live in shadows and hide from the government and it’s nearly impossible to find them all. Well… Here’s one way. Show up at the rallies and start arresting people. Show up at the businesses these people work at and fine the hell out of the people who make their illegal lives in this country possible.

That’s how you start. If they’re going to come out of the woodwork and expose themselves, take advantage and start arresting people.

I know. Won’t happen.

Instead, we’ll get another lecture from the idiot about how it’s impractical to find and arrest illegal immigrants.

I’m all for a worker program, a streamlined immigration process, and a reward system for those who take part in those programs to help them become actual citizens even faster.

I’m not for illegal immigration for any reason and I’m certainly not for an idiot President who has basically given his blessing to these folks by telling them that since we can’t round all of them up, we’ll just let them be.

That’s simply ridiculous.

I Give Up

April 24th, 2006 by Vinny

Really. I give up.

Our idiot-in-chief has done it again

IRVINE, Calif. - President Bush, rebutting lawmakers advocating a law-and-order approach to immigration, said Monday that those who are calling for massive deportation of the estimated 11 million foreigners living illegally in the United States are not being realistic.

“Massive deportation of the people here is not going to work,” Bush said as a Congress divided over immigration returned from a two-week recess. “It’s just not going to work.”

It’s not going to work because no one in Congress or the Oval Office has the balls to try it. When you never try something you can be utterly assured it will indeed not ever succeed. Screw you, Bush. Screw you and you’re yellow-up-the-back cowardly pandering ass. Thank God this is all over in 2 years and we can give someone with a backbone a chance to do something.

We Should Start “Crossing” Into Their Border Too

January 25th, 2006 by Vinny

Texas law enforcement officers faced off with men dressed as Mexican Army soldiers and apparent drug suspects near the U.S.-Mexican border Tuesday, after three SUVs attempted to flee state authorities, officials said.

Andrea Simmons, an agency spokeswoman in El Paso, told The Associated Press that Texas Department of Public Safety troopers chased three SUVs, believing they were carrying drugs, to the banks of the Rio Grande during Monday’s incident.

Men dressed in Mexican military uniforms or camouflage were on the U.S. side of the border in Texas, she said.

Simmons said the FBI was not involved and referred requests for further details to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin of Ontario, Calif., reported Tuesday that the incident included an armed standoff involving the Mexican military and suspected drug smugglers. The incident follows a story in the Bulletin on Jan. 15 that said the Mexican military had crossed into the United States more than 200 times since 1996.

I wonder why all the liberals who are going absolutely nuts because of an attack on a terrorist get together in Pakistan because it happened inside another “sovereign nation” aren’t going nuts over incursions on our own border?

Immigration is one of many issues that will force me to not vote for many politicians in any elections. I’m sick of every elected official doing nothing for fear of angering the damned hispanic vote.

11 Immigrants Die in Ariz. Desert Heat

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The sudden onset of triple-digit heat led to a rash of deaths among illegal immigrants over the weekend in the Arizona desert, with 11 people reported dead between Friday and Monday.

Scores more were saved in nearly 50 rescue operations, said U.S. Border Patrol spokesmen.

The deaths were scattered along Arizona’s border with Mexico. Five of the bodies were were found west of Tucson.

Dozens of rescues, involving about 40 people in all, were conducted by Border Patrol search and rescue agents in the busiest three-day period ever for the Yuma office of the agency, said search-and-rescue supervisor Dan Sprick.

Dozens more were conducted in the Tucson sector, which covers all but the 50 westernmost miles of Arizona’s border with Mexico.

What the hell were they doing there, guys? Do your damn jobs!

Mexico must be one hell of a country. People are dying to get out.

Border Patrol told to stand down in Arizona
By Jerry Seper
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

U.S. Border Patrol agents have been ordered not to arrest illegal aliens along the section of the Arizona border where protesters patrolled last month because an increase in apprehensions there would prove the effectiveness of Minuteman volunteers, The Washington Times has learned.

More than a dozen agents, all of whom asked not to be identified for fear of retribution, said orders relayed by Border Patrol supervisors at the Naco, Ariz., station made it clear that arrests were “not to go up” along the 23-mile section of border that the volunteers monitored to protest illegal immigration.

“It was clear to everyone here what was being said and why,” said one veteran agent. “The apprehensions were not to increase after the Minuteman volunteers left. It was as simple as that.”

Another agent said the Naco supervisors “were clear in their intention” to keep new arrests to an “absolute minimum” to offset the effect of the Minuteman vigil, adding that patrols along the border have been severely limited.

How quaint. Wouldn’t want to arrest all those criminals sneaking into the country. Might make a small band of plain old citizens look better than the border patrol which can’t be bothered to patrol our border. As usual, Tom Tancredo is the absolute only person in Congress who understands the problem:

But Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican, yesterday said “credible sources” within the Border Patrol also had told him of the decision by Naco supervisors to keep new arrests to a minimum, saying he was angry but not surprised.

“It’s like telling a cop to stand by and watch burglars loot a store but don’t arrest any of them,” he said. “This is another example of decisions being made at the highest levels of the Border Patrol that are hurting morale and helping to rot the agency from within.

I’ve decided I’m not giving another penny to the Republican party ever again unless they:

1. Take a real stand against abortion.
2. Do something to stop criminals from filtering into our country and not just legalize them once they’re here.

Until that miraculous day occurs, when law-and-order Republicans start acting like it, they will never see another dime from me. Period.
