The most impressive part that stuck with me was when he discussed how we’re obviously good people for the most part because even people who speak in hyperbole crash back to earth and are shocked when hyperbole becomes reality. I also like that he didn’t try to pin this on political discussion or anything else.

He’s right about one thing; this does provide us an opportunity to elevate our political dialog beyond hyperbolic and nasty comments. Of course it won’t be taken, but the opportunity is there and we will actively choose to miss it rather than take it.

Somehow, a guy whose entire shtick is skewering the media just showed more maturity about a terrible tragedy than the media has shown in 5 days. Maybe that’s a bigger indicator of where we are as a country than anything else.

While Coke swears there is no difference in taste between Coke made with High Fructose Corn Syrup and Coke made with cane sugar, Pepsi continues to give credence to the opposite side of that argument. The beverage company has announced that plans to sell its sugar-sweetened Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback sodas as long as people buy them.

“We’ve put it back in the market and we’ll see where it goes,” the PepsiCo CFO told reporters last week about Pepsi Throwback.

Do you hear that people?  Buy it!  Send a message!  Tell the beverage companies that you’re not interested in High Fructose Corn Syrup Corn Sugar and you’re even willing to pay a few cents more for actual sugar.

I’ll buy Throwback, Dr. Pepper, and Sierra Mist when I need a cola-type beverage.  This is a good thing and I’m very happy about it.
