For eight years, anytime someone criticized a leftist, we heard the wails out outrage. If anyone merely insinuated that their tripe was not helpful to the country, we were told that dissent is the highest form of patriotism.

Of course, that was when the dissenters agreed with the leftards.

Now, in 2010, dissenters are dangerous. How do I know?

Because we just learned from the White House itself that dissent helps Al Qaeda.

And no, I didn’t draw that conclusion; that’s what they said.

In an oped in USA Today, John Brennan — Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism — responds to critics of the Obama administration’s counterterrorism policies by saying “Politically motivated criticism and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda.”

Brennan writes that, “Terrorists are not 100-feet tall. Nor do they deserve the abject fear they seek to instill.”

In the oped, titled “‘We need no lectures’: Administration disrupts terrorists’ plots, takes fight to them abroad,” Brennan writes that politics “should never get in the way of national security. But too many in Washington are now misrepresenting the facts to score political points, instead of coming together to keep us safe.”

Wow…

So if you’re critical of the President, you’re a terrorist.

Meet the new boss… Same as the old boss…

“Today, the Transportation Security Administration issued new security directives to all United States and international air carriers with inbound flights to the U.S. effective January 4, 2010.

The new directive includes long-term, sustainable security measures developed in consultation with law enforcement officials and our domestic and international partners.

Because effective aviation security must begin beyond our borders, and as a result of extraordinary cooperation from our global aviation partners, TSA is mandating that every individual flying into the U.S. from anywhere in the world traveling from or through nations that are state sponsors of terrorism or other countries of interest will be required to go through enhanced screening. The directive also increases the use of enhanced screening technologies and mandates threat-based and random screening for passengers on U.S. bound international flights.”

Remember a long time ago when Bush was President and we had alerts like this that set the left off into a tizzy of “fearmongering!!!” because, as we all know, every terrorism alert under the Bush admin was fake and designed for political reasons.

Amazing how things change…

She found her answer in the AMA’s own 2008 National Health Insurer Report Card. The chart below appears on page 5 of the 16-page report.

Here’s the chart…

How about that… Interestingly, Stop the ACLU’s headline on this report really does drive home the point: “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Demonizing Private Insurance Companies”

Funny, indeed… Big Government closes with the following prescient thought.

Of the eight insurers listed, Medicare is most likely to reject a claim, sending away 6.85% of requests. This is more than any private insurer and double that of the private insurers’ average!

In short, the AMA is endorsing a plan whose closest existing example is the most frequent denier of claims. How the public option exemplifies “delivering care to patients” is unclear.

Hard to argue, particularly when the numbers tell the story.

So here’s a new one… The President is claiming that the idea of summer vacation for kids in school is a bad one and an outdated one…

Students beware: The summer vacation you just enjoyed could be sharply curtailed if President Barack Obama gets his way.

Obama says American kids spend too little time in school, putting them at a disadvantage with other students around the globe.

“Now, I know longer school days and school years are not wildly popular ideas,” the president said earlier this year. “Not with Malia and Sasha, not in my family, and probably not in yours. But the challenges of a new century demand more time in the classroom.”

The president, who has a sixth-grader and a third-grader, wants schools to add time to classes, to stay open late and to let kids in on weekends so they have a safe place to go.

“Our school calendar is based upon the agrarian economy and not too many of our kids are working the fields today,” Education Secretary Arne Duncan said in a recent interview with The Associated Press.

Hard to argue that, right? I mean, you don’t see a lot of field-working kids in 2009. Although, if we’re going to start revoking vacations based on them being part of an outdated worldview, maybe we should start with Congress’ long vacation as well, right?

By tradition and by law, Congress recesses for the month of August. During the Senate’s early years, members attempted to adjourn in the spring, before the summer’s heat and oppressive humidity overwhelmed them and their small staff. When the Senate moved to its current chamber in 1859, senators were optimistic about its “modern” ventilation system, but they soon found the new system ineffective. Long sessions were plagued by hot and stormy weather. The 1920s brought “manufactured weather” to the Senate chamber, but even modern climate control could not cope with the hottest days, forcing 20th-century senators to escape the summer heat. In 1970, finally facing the reality of long sessions, Congress mandated a summer break as part of the Legislative Reorganization Act. Today, the August recess continues to be a regular feature of the Senate schedule–a chance for senators to spend time with family, meet with constituents in their home states, and catch up on summer reading.

Well, we know they aren’t reading bills, and since most of them do travel home and back on weekends, I don’t see a need for a mandated summer break for them, right?

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. There’s no reason to have a break based on the climate of DC in the age of air conditioning. It’s not like the Senate and House chambers have flung the windows open and asked God to do what He will with the temperature.

Yet another example of the government and their “do as I say, but not as I do” mentality.

(“”I swear by God this sacred oath that I shall render unconditional obedience to Adolf Hitler, the Führer of the German Reich, supreme commander of the armed forces, and that I shall at all times be prepared, as a brave soldier, to give my life for this oath.”)

Hmmmm… Where have I heard this before… Oh right… At 3:53 of this video…

“I pledge to be a servant to our President and to all mankind.”

What is a servant? Maybe I misunderstood?

Servant: One who serves, or does services, voluntarily or on compulsion; a person who is employed by another for menial offices, or for other labor, and is subject to his command; a person who labors or exerts himself for the benefit of another, his master or employer; a subordinate helper.

Guess not.

But it’s not the same as Naziism. Pledging your undying devotion to a leader is perfectly normal behavior and not similar to Naziism in any way.

Oh, and incidentally, Penn Jillette isn’t impressed either.

Let’s see…

Grabbing guns…

Government ownership of banks…

Government buying the means of production…

People pledging to be a servant to our President…

Demonizing and marginalizing opposition…

Nope. Nothing to be concerned about.

Carry on.

Yay! I wonder how many times he rehearsed that line in front of a mirror, just hoping he’d be able to uncork it on some unsuspecting right wing mob-member.

Most interesting, of course, is the sudden outpouring of support this piece of something is receiving. Apparently everyone forgot the damage he did to the economy.

it didn’t take a financial whiz to recognize that a day of reckoning would come. “What does it mean when Boston banks start making many more loans to minorities?” I asked in this space in 1995. “Most likely, that they are knowingly approving risky loans in order to get the feds and the activists off their backs . . . When the coming wave of foreclosures rolls through the inner city, which of today’s self-congratulating bankers, politicians, and regulators plans to take the credit?”

Frank doesn’t. But his fingerprints are all over this fiasco. Time and time again, Frank insisted that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were in good shape. Five years ago, for example, when the Bush administration proposed much tighter regulation of the two companies, Frank was adamant that “these two entities, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not facing any kind of financial crisis.” When the White House warned of “systemic risk for our financial system” unless the mortgage giants were curbed, Frank complained that the administration was more concerned about financial safety than about housing.

Now that the bubble has burst and the “systemic risk” is apparent to all, Frank blithely declares: “The private sector got us into this mess.” Well, give the congressman points for gall. Wall Street and private lenders have plenty to answer for, but it was Washington and the political class that derailed this train. If Frank is looking for a culprit to blame, he can find one suspect in the nearest mirror.

Yep. Barney Frank. Man of the people. Hero to the left.

I guess it’s okay to lionize an idiot because we’re not talking about the economy lately. That’s fixed.

The US’s cash-for-clunkers scheme, designed to bolster Detroit’s embattled carmakers, is turning out to be an even bigger boon for their Japanese rivals.

According to data published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Monday, Americans are using the scrappage incentives to buy more vehicles from Toyota than any of the three Detroit carmakers.

Toyota has an 18.9 per cent share of vehicles bought so far, putting it ahead of General Motors with 17.6 per cent and Ford with 15.4 per cent. Chrysler is in fifth place, after Honda.

GM had a 19.6 per cent share of the overall US light-vehicle market in the first seven months of this year, compared with Toyota’s 16.3 per cent, according to Autodata, a New Jersey-based market research firm.

The top models bought since the scheme began on July 24 are the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and Ford Focus, all small sedans. Three of the top five are Toyotas.

So, while the White House is busy telling us how many people participated in the plan, we’re not hearing that the money isn’t going where it was intended to go: into Detroit.

Yep. Another brilliant success by the Obama economic team.

I think anyone in the year 2009, Republican or Democrat, can admit that without any thought for it’s validity. In fact, if you have to think about whether he was a piece of garbage or not, I highly suggest you jump into a garbage pail yourself because you may very well be one also.

Last week, tapes (yep, he gets burned by tapes yet again) were released from the Nixon Library which had him discussing abortion after the 1973 tragedy better known as Roe v. Wade.

The Nixon Presidential Library released over 150 hours of audio recordings Tuesday. Of particular interest are sections in which he discusses Vietnam, and the Roe v. Wade decision that essentially legalized abortion. CBS News Senior White House Correspondent Bill Plante listened to the tapes.

The Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade in January 1973, removing most restrictions on abortion. President Nixon told his special counsel Chuck Colson that even though he believed abortion encouraged permissiveness, it shouldn’t always be out of the question.

Nixon said, “There are times when abortions are necessary, I know that, you know that’s when you have a black and a white.”

Colson: “Or rape.”

Nixon: “Or rape.”

Of course, the “Republicans are racists!!!” crowd jumped on this one because, as you know, if you find one racist in a party, the whole party is to be discarded (unless it’s Robert Byrd, in which case you just ignore it because, well, he says he’s really sorry!) as racists. Unfortunately for the pro-baby-killing crowd, most of whom are on the front lines of this criticism, there isn’t a lot of knowledge going around, so I’m here to educate them.

The largest provider of abortions in the United States to this day, and one that continues to receive federal money for it’s work with “women’s health,” is Planned Parenthood, which since 1916 has performed more abortions than any other organization or medical facility. Their operating budget is over $1 billion, roughly $250 million of which comes from federal funding.

Abortion advocates, particularly those outraged by Nixon’s comments, often celebrate Planned Parenthood as a beacon of choice and the evil right wing Christians are always working against it. Ask any leftie and they’ll jump right in to defend the abortion factory of Planned Parenthood. Ask them to defend Nixon, though, and I promise you’ll have a fight on your hands.

It stands as a great irony that most of the PP supporters who hate Nixon actually don’t hate Planned Parenthood, especially considering it was started by a woman who believed in controlling the Negro population.

Margaret Sanger aligned herself with the eugenicists whose ideology prevailed in the early 20th century. Eugenicists strongly espoused racial supremacy and “purtiy”,” particularly of the “Aryan” race. Eugenicists hoped to purify the bloodlines and improve the race by encouraging the “fit” to reproduce and the “unfit” to restrict their reproduction. They sought to contain the “inferior” races through segregation, sterilization, birth control and abortion.

Sanger embraced Malthusian eugenics. Thomas Robert Malthus, a 19th century cleric and professor of political economy, believed a population time bomb threatened the existence of the human race. He viewed social problems such as poverty, deprivation and hunger as evidence of this “population crisis.” According to writer George Grant, Malthus condemned charities and other forms of benevolence, because he believed they only exacerbated the problems. His answer was to restrict population growth of certain groups of people. His theories of population growth and economic stability became the basis for national and international social policy. Grant quotes from Malthus’ magnum opus, An Essay on the Principle of Population, published in six editions from 1798 to 1826:

All children born, beyond what would be required to keep up the population to a desired level, must necessarily perish, unless room is made for them by the deaths of grown persons. We should facilitate, instead of foolishly and vainly endeavoring to impede, the operations of nature in producing this mortality.

Malthus disciples believed if Western civilization were to survive, the physically unfit, the materially poor, the spiritually diseased, the racially inferior, and the mentally incompetent had to be suppressed and isolated–or even, perhaps, eliminated. His disciples felt the subtler and more “scientific” approaches of education, contraception, sterilization and abortion were more “practical and acceptable ways” to ease the pressures of the alleged overpopulation.

Critics of Malthusianism said the group “produced a new vocabulary of mumbo-jumbo. It was all hard-headed, scientific and relentless.” Further, historical facts have proved the Malthusian mathematical scheme regarding overpopulation to be inaccurate, though many still believe them.

Despite the falsehoods of Malthus’ overpopulation claims, Sanger nonetheless immersed herself in Malthusian eugenics. Grant wrote she argued for birth control using the “scientifically verified” threat of poverty, sickness, racial tension and overpopulation as its background. Sanger’s publication, The Birth Control Review (founded in 1917) regularly published pro-eugenic articles from eugenicists, such as Ernst Ruin. Although Sanger ceased editing The Birth Control Review in 1929, the ABCL continued to use it as a platform for eugenic ideas.

I’m not making this stuff up. It’s known about Margaret Sanger and has been one of many dark aspects of the Planned Parenthood story since its inception. Some of you will probably look at that and say, “But Vincenzo… That’s the past. Planned Parenthood may have been founded by a eugenicist, but that doesn’t put them in that crowd. It’s 90 years later,” and to those people I’d say, “You have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Check out this video, or this one and tell me Planned Parenthood’s roots are just theoretical. And maybe you should ask these folks what they’re protesting if there’s no racism at Planned Parenthood. I’m sure they’ll talk to you.

Let’s be honest; the reactions to Nixon’s comments aren’t that of an outraged public. They’re reactions based on politics alone. The disproportionate outrage at Nixon’s remarks versus Planned Parenthood’s actions and Margaret Sanger’s eugenicist beliefs proves, at least to me, that in the end racism isn’t the big issue, conservatism is.

Photo from protesteasyguns.com from Chicago, April 2008

Just a quick overview of firearms laws in the state of Illinois, a state where the protest above happened protesting guns being too easy to get.

Illinois has some of the most restrictive firearm laws in the country.

To possess or purchase firearms or ammunition, Illinois residents must have a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card, which is issued by the state police. Generally an FOID will be granted unless the applicant has been convicted of a felony or an act of domestic violence, is the subject of an order of protection, has been convicted of assault or battery or been a patient in a mental institution within the last five years, or has been adjudicated as a mental defective. There are additional requirements for applicants under the age of 21.

There is no state preemption of firearm laws. Some municipalities, most notably Chicago, require that all firearms be registered with the local police department. Chicago does not allow the registration of handguns, which has the effect of outlawing their possession, unless they were grandfathered in by being registered before April 16, 1982. The Chicago suburb of Oak Park also has banned handguns, and Highland Park bars handgun possession unless the resident has obtained a permit from the police. The status of these various handgun bans has been uncertain since June 26, 2008, when the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Washington, D.C.’s handgun ban in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller. Chicago and Oak Park have indicated that they will fight in court to keep their current laws, but in the months following the Heller decision, handgun bans were repealed in the suburbs of Wilmette, Morton Grove, Evanston, and Winnetka.

Cook County has banned assault weapons and magazines that can hold more than ten rounds of ammunition. Other municipalities have also enacted various firearm restrictions. Lack of preemption makes it difficult to travel throughout Illinois with a firearm while being sure that no laws are being broken.

Illinois is one of two remaining states that have no provision for the concealed carry of firearms by citizens. Open carry is also illegal, except when hunting, or when in unincorporated areas where carrying is not prohibited by county law. When a firearm is being transported, it must be unloaded and enclosed in a case.

When purchasing a handgun in Illinois, there is a 72 hour waiting period after the sale before the buyer can take possession. The waiting period for long guns is 24 hours.

So for all those laws, what does that get you?

Chicago had seven shooting deaths in 24 hours this weekend, and police say they have no suspects in custody.

All seven victims were men in their 20s or 30s, and all were shot to death.

The shootings occurred between 6:15 a.m. Saturday and just before 6 a.m. Sunday.

One victim, 30-year-old Demond Stansbury, was shot along with two of his cousins, who survived and are in fair condition.

The shootings spanned the city, happening on the North, South and West sides.

So you have some of the strictest gun laws in the country and yet there were 7 shooting deaths in a 24 hour span.

What does that tell anyone with a brain?

Remember when John McCain said “the fundamentals of our economy are strong” during the election? Everyone jumped on him with both feet. You couldn’t find enough fauxtrage in the world to cover it. It was thrown at McCain again and again in an attempt to paint him as “out of touch” and the media loved every minute of it. In fact, the day he made those comments, the Obama team jumped on him:

Today of all days, John McCain’s stubborn insistence that the ‘fundamentals of the economy are strong’ shows that he is disturbingly out of touch with what’s going in the lives of ordinary Americans. Even as his own ads try to convince him that the economy is in crisis, apparently his 26 years in Washington have left him incapable of understanding that the policies he supports have created an historic economic crisis.

Wow. Harsh words. No doubt what that means, right?

This weekend, President Obama had a meeting with a bunch of folks with regards to the US economy. In it, he said the following:

“There’s a reason why even in the midst of this economic crisis you’ve seen actual increases in investment flows here into the United States,” Obama said. “I think it’s a recognition that the stability not only of our economic system, but also our political system, is extraordinary.

The stability of our economic system is extraordinary? Sounds a lot like saying the fundamentals of our economy are strong, doesn’t it? If you’re honest, you can’t argue otherwise; but that would of course mean that you’re being honest. Oh yeah, and in case there’s any ambiguity as to what President Obama meant with the above statement, he clarified it as well.

“I think that not just the Chinese government, but every investor, can have absolute confidence in the soundness of investments in the United States,” he added.

I guess that means that the fundamentals of our economy are strong, and that lots of people owe John McCain an apology or that Barack Obama is dead wrong and out of touch and he’s owed some scorn; I just won’t hold my breath looking for either one.

Mychal Bell’s wound isn’t life threatening, said Monroe Police Sgt. Cassandra Wooten. The 18-year-old used a .22-caliber firearm in the shooting around 7:40 p.m., she said.

Wooten believes Bell was upset over media coverage of the arrest last week.

“I think he was upset over the incident … and didn’t want to be in the news again,” she said.

More of the new politics we’re gonna get from Barack Obama, this time in a form that by rights should be infuriating his supporters, but they’re so drunk on Obamaade they’ll never even notice how ironic it is.

During President Bush’s term, he’s developed a reputation for controlling every single minute aspect of a press event including how the crowd looks. Many have ripped into him on numerous occasions for manipulating the audience behind him, for example, to make his crowd look more “diverse” (ie: to make it look like there are more black people at his speeches; let’s be honest; diversity = more black people) and more blue collar (people wearing ties were asked to remove them to create that warm fuzzy folksy look). Here’s an example of a libtard website that went way deep into analyzing Bush’s “theater”

So what does this have to do with Barack Obama and his new politics and all that hope stuff? Well, apparently his pitbull wife was having a little get together, but the crowd behind her was a little too black for her tastes.

While the crowd was indeed diverse, some students at the event questioned the practices of Mrs. Obama’s event coordinators, who handpicked the crowd sitting behind Mrs. Obama. The Tartan’s correspondents observed one event coordinator say to another, “Get me more white people, we need more white people.” To an Asian girl sitting in the back row, one coordinator said, “We’re moving you, sorry. It’s going to look so pretty, though.”

“I didn’t know they would say, ‘We need a white person here,’?” said attendee and senior psychology major Shayna Watson, who sat in the crowd behind Mrs. Obama. “I understood they would want a show of diversity, but to pick up people and to reseat them, I didn’t know it would be so outright.”

It isn’t supposed to be, Shayna. It’s supposed to be “new politics” and change, hope, etc. and so on.

Instead, it’s just more of the same.

Now this is interesting… Oprah hasn’t started the trend everyone thought she was going to when she started nursing at the teet of everyone’s favorite clean and articulate black man…

Her two most favorite authors, Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison, have not opened their pocketbooks yet for Obama. (Angelou has traditionally been a Clinton supporter.)

Neither has Spike Lee nor Denzel Washington, although the latter’s wife Pauletta sent Obama $2,300. Motown founder Berry Gordy, Jr. has put his bucks in Hillary Clinton’s campaign, as has Quincy Jones.

Also missing from Obama’s list of donors in the current election cycle is BET Chairman and Founder billionaire Robert L. Johnson. The regular Democratic donor did give Hillary Clinton $4,600 in 2007. The last time he sent a check to Obama was in 2006, for $2,100.

Obama’s celeb donors include the recently controversial Will Smith, but not Chris Gardner, the multi millionaire whom Smith played in “The Pursuit of Happyness.” Obama did receive donations from the newly married Eddie Murphy and the always funny Chris Rock.

But neither Sean “Diddy” Combs nor Shawn “Jay Z” Carter has pitched in for the Illinois senator as of yet. Jay Z’s fiancée Beyonce Knowles has also remained silent. Her father, Mathew, last sent Obama $1,000 for his senate campaign.

Winfrey, meanwhile, may like Obama but hasn’t put the weight of her fortune behind him yet.

Oprah and boyfriend Stedman Graham, according to federal campaign records, donated only $2,300 each to Obama’s campaign at the party held at Winfrey’s Montecito, California mansion last September. They could have donated twice that amount.

[...]

Even now, her endorsement of Obama hasn’t led to any contribution to the Democratic Party in any form. Maybe she’s waiting to see if Obama is the official candidate.

Either that or she doesn’t really believe in him at all and was just doing her job as a black entertainer to get the black man elected?

GASP…

How horrible that I suggest such a thing. Oprah’s motives are as pure as the driven snow, dammit.
