Information Salad #81
March 29th, 2008 by VinnyThis week, we’re recording the show live now, no more post-edit. Yikes!
- Stuffr is so close, but WordPress 2.5 is coming, so the release of Stuffr will be released.
- Quotably is brilliant, but it just guesses which tweets belong in which threads.
- Have you seen Loren Feldman’s new project? It rocks!
- We talk about the impending demise (if it hasn’t already happened yet) of FastCompany.TV
- The fact that this story is news is stupid. Nancy Reagan is not stupid, the people who made sure this was news, are.
- Michelle Obama thinks typical Americans are feel justified in their own ignorance.
- Bill Richardson says that Barack Obama’s candidacy for president a “once in a lifetime opportunity”. Why is is a once in a lifetime opportunity?
- The controversy is not about Rev. Wright. It’s about Barack Obama’s inconsistent comments on the issue.
- People need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid. Most people don’t have the intimate connection to their pastor that Barack Obama obviously had (heck, just look at his book). Are you on drugs Bill Maher?
- TSA is getting very thorough in their airport checks, aren’t they? Beware of those nipple ring smugglers.
- Check out the material coming out of the public education system.
- We talk American Idol for the first time this season. David Cook nailed it. Absolutely nailed it. Brooke White is absolutely amazing. Vinny says she will win this season. I hope he’s right.
- Jack Rousch is blowing a gasket.
- Stupid Person Of The Week: We’re not sure who’s the bigger idiot, the guy who shot a hole in the wall to drill a hole for a satellite antenna wire and killed his wife, or the reporter that says this is something all of us have tried at home.

Information Salad #71: Barackapalooza The Ultimate Plaxotive
January 5th, 2008 by VinnyThis week, we talk about the Facebook/Plaxo/Scoble debacle, politics in Iowa, and Robert Scoble again.
- Vinny highly recommends that you see Maria Full Of Grace.
- Did Robert Scoble get caught with his hand in the cookie jar, or was he an innocent bystander?
- DownloadSquad has the perfect quote to sum up what Facebook is all about.
- Zooomr users bolted to a Flickr group called “Zooomr Exodus”.
- We talk politics, the Iowa caucus, and the candidates for President.
- Scoble posted this just as we were finishing the show.
- Slobokan is craving Five Guys. So we’re outta here.

6 Years Ago Today
January 1st, 2008 by VinnyOh how time flies. 6 years ago today Insignificant Thoughts was set up as a small personal site on Geocities. Things have been much better ever since and it’s gone from a static HTML site to a blog to a photoblog and back to a blog with audio, video, pictures, and all kinds of goodness.
It’s good to be doing it. I don’t necessarily keep it up as much as I’d like to, but I’m glad to have it around.
Thanks for sticking around to all of you, and here’s to another year of you guys reading / watching / listening to my drivel ![]()
The Insignificant Thoughts 2008 Presidential Endorsement
December 30th, 2007 by VinnyCleaning House
December 10th, 2007 by VinnyHi all!
Just a quick note to let you know that I’ve cleaned house. No more Twitter updates on the site. No more "space takers." The blog is back and it’s going back to the level you came to know and love. I’ve started tinkering and putting everything back to normal and the content is already starting to flow.
Thanks for sticking around!

Nosebleed #6: Chris and Vinny’s Morning Zoo
November 27th, 2007 by VinnyChris and Vincent are warming up for the premiere of the live edition of Nosebleed. As such, this episode is as live as you can get for a recording. The boys talk gambling, Olbermann, the demise of the Minnesota Twins, and how Vinny’s teams seem to just not want to win.

On this week’s action packed episode…
- J! E! T! S! Jets! Jets! Jets!
- How exactly does the spread relate to the over/under?
- Did you know that holding a lead against the Patriots for three quarters but still losing means that the Patriots are beatable? No, really.
- Keith Olbermann waxes Tolkienian on Sunday Night Football. Don’t be a man of cleft chin and stick, just click here.
- Sean Taylor, safety for the Washington Redskins, was shot in his home. He’s in critical condition and it’s been reported he’s in a coma.
- Joey Harrington is going to remain the Falcons’ starter. That makes sense, seeing as he’s the team’s most successful QB — Joey’s taken the snaps for the team’s three wins.
- The turf at Heinz Field has seen more action than your mom.
- The Red Sox got to split up their World Series prize money — about $19 million. Would you believe that prize purse has gotten smaller?
- Vinny’s Mets, in a great move, signed Johnny Estrada. Other teams are content picking away players from the Minnesota Twins — the Angels grabbed Torii Hunter, and the Red Sox are seriously looking at Johan Santana.
- Hockey makes Vinny hurt.
- “
George BushJim Dolan doesn’t care aboutblack peoplewinning.” - The boys are taking on each other in a good old fashioned game of weekly pick ‘em. This week (home teams in caps), Vinny takes NEW ORLEANS (+3) and the under, CHICAGO (-2) and the under, and Denver (+3) and the over while Chris takes Green Bay (-7) and the over, WASHINGTON (+5.5) and the over, and San Francisco (-3) and the under. The boys can earn up to six points weekly — a point for each winner and a point for each correctly picked over/under.
The Nosebleed theme music is “Bad Attraction” by Brad Sucks.

UPDATE, Tues. (11/27) Morning: It is being reported this morning that Sean Taylor has died after being shot in his home early Monday. We at Nosebleed and ISPN Media extend our condolences to his family, his teammates in Washington, and anyone affected by his death.
Happy Thanksgiving!
November 22nd, 2007 by VinnyHey everyone,
Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
I’m thankful for each and every one of you and your continued readership here.
All the best to you and your families,
Vinny
I sat in the Nosebleeds last night :-)
October 30th, 2007 by VinnyChris Roberts graciously had me on Nosebleed last night. If you haven’t listened to Nosebleed (and shame on you if you haven’t), it’s a sports podcast, but instead of being Sports Center, it’s more like sports from the regular fan point of view.
Check it out here and while you’re there, check out the many other fine podcasts at ISPN Media.

Information Salad Episode 62 Is Live
October 20th, 2007 by VinnyThis week Chris Roberts from Pod 25 and the soon-coming podcast Nosebleed sits in for the venerable Slobokan, Vinny has a question, and the boys run the bases.
- Chris talks about his podcasts at ISPN Media — Pod 25 and his new show, Nosebleed.
- Vinny has an interesting ethics question.
- Joe Torre was metaphorically slapped in the face, so he quit. Chris thinks the slap had at least a little merit.
- The MLBPA was in your head owning your stats. Not so much anymore.
- The skies aren’t so friendly for the kids anymore — well, not really the kids as much as the parents who don’t have their stuff together.
- Chris is going into protective custody after he unloads on Philly. Though, he’s not the only one who thinks Philly is quite flawed.
- There is… a new Captain… Kirk… coming to the next… installment… of the Star Trek series.
- A reporter from KDFW in Dallas got suspended for accosting someone who probably shouldn’t have been accosted. She is Hispanic, and as such, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists are giving the obligatory finger wag.
- Hardee’s wants to kill you. No, really, they really want you dead from their breakfast goodness.

Sorry for the quietness
October 18th, 2007 by VinnyI know I haven’t updated in a bit. I’m not going anywhere. I’m going through some shit and I need to deal with it. The site will be back in the flow of things soon… Actually very soon… I just have some stuff I have to deal with first.
Hang tight. I’m not gone, just away for a bit ![]()

Please do me a favor…
October 10th, 2007 by VinnyLook, I don’t ask for a whole lot, but I’m asking now.
My cousin just started blogging and he wants to get things rolling. It’s hard to break into the blogosphere, so that’s where you guys come in.
If you could visit the kid, give him a pat on the back and what not, that would be cool.
Say hi. Introduce yourself. Link him in your sidebar. Whatever. He could really use the encouragement and I’m all about helping a kid get going in this arena.
The blog can be found here.
Thanks all. It is greatly appreciated.
